While the e-commerce and inbound tourism markets are growing, they have never truly intersected. Tax-free shopping for foreign visitors has always been limited to in-person transactions. Our mission is to change that, enabling tax-free shopping through e-commerce and creating a new service that enhances Japan’s role as a global tourism destination.

Shifting 10% of Japan’s Tax-free Market to Online
In 2019, Japan’s tax-free market reached 1 trillion JPY, with almost all coming from physical retail.
At the same time, Japan’s e-commerce penetration was only 13%, even though online shopping is now an everyday part of life.
We aim to move 10% of foreign visitors’ shopping in Japan (100 billion JPY in sales) to online platforms. Doing so will allow visitors to spend more time enjoying Japan’s tourism and experiences, making tax-free e-commerce the new norm.

The name “Emerge” comes from the idea of something “appearing” or “surfacing.” iEntEmerge Inc. was established in 2019 as a new company to bring fresh services to life, following the foundation of iEnt Inc. in 2011.
At iEntEmerge Inc., we offer an innovative new concept of tax-free e-commerce as part of Japan’s hospitality for inbound tourists. We also provide digital transformation solutions to Japanese businesses to help them earn foreign currency.
